YONI STEAMING ~ THE ANCIENT SELF-CARE PRACTICE FOR YOUR WOMB SPACE
Yoni steaming is the female self-care practice of allowing warm herbal steam to permeate the vaginal tissues and the womb by kneeling, squatting or sitting above a pot of freshly boiled water steeped with reproductive herbs. This ancient practice has been used worldwide for centuries. Across the planet and throughout time, women have utilized yoni steaming as a sacred way to reconnect with the power of their source energy, balance their menstrual or moon cycle, increase fertility, cleanse and nourish the womb space, gracefully transition into menopause and even heal the body, heart and mind from physical, sexual and/or cultural trauma.
We begin with gentle body work, relaxing the body with warm oils and a sound bath, preparing for our steam. Depending on your needs, I create a herbal mixture which will be placed in a pot with boiling water beneath you. You'll sit in my handcrafted wooden stool over this steamy mixture for about 20 minutes, fully wrapped in a organic cotton sheet - allowing the steam to penetrate your body without escaping.
The word yoni is a Sanskrit term for the female reproductive organs including the vulva and vagina. This highly revered term in Hinduism recognizes the power of the goddess and the origin of life. The word yoni literally translates to mean womb, sacred space, source and divine passage. In Ayurvedic medicine, yoni steaming is traditionally called yoni swedana.
